Meet the Coaches

The Monarchs program would not be what it is today without its knowledgeable coaches who freely dedicate their time year-round.  Browse the bios below to learn more about the qualified individuals who make up the Monarchs coaching staff. 

  • Ron Hittner

    Program Co-Founder and Director
    Ron served as the women's head coach at Blanchet Catholic High School from 2013-2019, where the Cavaliers had consecutive state tournament finishes of 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and he was named State Coach of the Year in both 2017 and 2019. He has long been involved in youth basketball within the Willamette Valley. 

    After playing collegiate basketball at Willamette University, Ron began his coaching career at Parrish Middle School before becoming involved with the Keizer Youth Basketball Association.  Ron served KYBA for many years as a coach for the recreational league, as well as the tournament team.  During this time, Ron also joined the KYBA board and was elected for several terms as board president.  In 2007, Ron joined the Corban University Women's Basketball coaching staff as an assistant under Terry Williams.  It was during this time that the idea of the Monarchs was born.  Ron and Terry coached together at Corban until Terry's retirement in 2013.  Shortly after, Ron was hired as the women's head coach at Blanchet. 

    He is an active member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the National Federation of High School Coaches, and frequently speaks at coaching clinics around the nation, including the Nike/OACA Clinic.  He was named the PacWest Coach of the Year for the 2015-2016 season after leading the Cavaliers to the regular season league championship, and the Oregon 3A State Basketball Coach of the Year in 2017 after leading Blanchet to its first ever girls basketball state championship.   In 2017-2018, the Blanchet girls followed up their previous year's state championship with a 3rd place finish at the 3A State Tournament.  And in 2018-2019, Blanchet finished as state runnerup and Ron was named Co-State Coach of the Year.

  • Terry Williams

    Program Co-Founder and Director
    A person who has touched the lives of more young athletes in Salem-Keizer than just about any other coach, Terry Williams continues his mission of serving our youth by coaching our top teams with Coach Hittner.

    Following a successful college athletic career in both basketball and baseball, Terry has dedicated himself to positively affecting young lives by coaching at all levels of basketball for the past 30+.  Included in this is the formation of Keizer Youth Basketball Association (KYBA) in the late 1980's and assistance with the creation of Salem-Keizer Youth Basketball (SKYBall) in the early 1990's.  Terry was hired as head women's coach at Western Baptist College in the mid-1990's and became the school's all-time winningest women's basketball coach (as it transitioned to its current name of Corban University) and coached the women's basketball team to its only national championship.  Following his retirement from Corban in the spring of 2013, Terry continued coaching basketball in KYBA, Upward, and the Monarchs.

    In the fall of 2014, Coach Williams was named the head girls' coach at West Salem High School, where served for three years, leading the Titans into the state play-offs each year.

    Starting with the 2021-2022 season, Coach Williams took over the Crosshill Christian girls basketball program.

  • Jeremy Vandenboer

    Coach
    Coach V is back for his sixth year coaching in the Monarchs program.    He is in his second year as an assistant coach for the Women's program at Linfield College for the 2021-2022 season.

    Previously, he was the head women's coach at Mt. Hood Community College where he guided the Saints to three straight appearances in the NWACC post-season tournament, after having been absent for eight years prior to his arrival.

    Coach V has twenty years of coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school level, a career that began while he was still a student at Walla Walla College (now University).

    Coach V is also an instructor in the online Oregon Connections Academy.

  • Tori Van Cleave

    Coach
    Tori begins her fifth season coaching in the Monarchs program.  Following a highly decorated career at Blanchet Catholic School, Tori continued her educaton at Oregon State University.  During her time at OSU, she coached multiple youth basketball teams.  

    Following her graduation from OSU, Tori joined the Blanchet coaching staff where she helped the Cavaliers win the State Championship in 2017 and a third place in 2018.  

    She is currently an assistant coach for the Sprague High School boys' basketball program.

  • Jordan Graneto

    Coach

    Prior to his coaching career Coach Graneto played high school basketball at McNary High School (2005-2009). Graneto was the starting Point Guard on Back-to-Back Valley League Championship teams, as well as being voted 2nd Team All-Conference. Graneto left McNary High School 3rd all time in 3 pointers made in a career. Graneto then attended Corban University on a basketball scholarship and played two years for Corban.

    Coach Graneto will be entering his 5th season as the varsity boys' basketball coach at Sprague High School this upcoming Fall. Coach Graneto's Sprague team's have made the play-offs three of his four seasons as the hel and this past season posted a 10-4 league record and second place finish in the Mountain Valley Conference.

    Graneto previously served as varsity assistant coach at Sprague High School (2011-2013), varsity head coach at North Salem High School (2014-2016), and junior varsity head coach at McNary High School (2016-2018).

  • Jami Morris

    Coach
    Coach Morris is in her first year as a Monarchs coach. Most recently she was the head varsity coach for the Sprague High School girls' basketball program from 2018 through 2020.

    Prior to that, Jami assisted Coach Hittner at Blanchet Catholic School from 2016-2018 where she played a big role in helping the Cavaliers with their first state championship in 2017 and followed that up with a third place finish at state in 2018.

    Jami attended Sprague High School where they reached the State play-offs twice. In her senior year, she was the Central Valley Conference player of the year and also led the state in scoring. Upon graduation, she moved on to George Fox University where they reached the NCAA DIII National Championship game both her freshman and senior seaons. She concluded her career as the 9th leading scorer in Bruin program history.


    egins her second season with the Monarchs in 2022. She just completed her first year as an assistant coach at Chico State University in California.  Prior to that she was an assistant coach for women’s basketball at Willamette University. Her coaching career started at University of Idaho as a graduate assistant from 2018-2019. Kylie joined the University of Idaho’s staff after playing for five years at Willamette University.

    While at Willamette, Kylie set many game, season and career records, includng finishing as the all-time scoring leader for the Bearcats.

  • Danielle VanderStoel

    Coach 

    Coach VanderStoel is in her first year as a Monarchs coach, following her inaugural year as an assistant coach with the Crosshill Christian High School girls basketball team.

    Dani had a very successful high school career at Salem Academy as a four-year starter including one state championship.  She participated as a player in the Monarchs program during this team.  She followed this with a four-year college basketball career at Corban University with multiple post-season appearances for the Warriors.

  • Emily Cope

    Coach

    Emily Cope begins her sixth season with the Monarchs after completing six years as assistant varsity and head junior varsity coach at Blanchet Catholic School, where she helped lead the Cavaliers to the 2017 Oregon Class 3A State Championship. She joined the staff at Salem Academy for the 2019-2020 season as a varsity assistant.

    Emily joined the Blanchet coaching staff following a stellar career at Corban University where she was a starter each of her four years.    During her time as Warrior, Emily was in the top ten nationally in multiple statistical categores and finished her career as one of the most decorated basketball players ever to come out of Corban.

     

  • Bailey Hittner

    Coach
    Bailey enters her third year coaching in the Monarchs program ifollowing a storied career at Blanchet Catholic School.  A four-year basketball starter and two-year captain, Bailey earned All-State honors her junior and senior years in addition to three All-League years.

    In 2017 as a sophomore, she led the Cavaliers to their first-ever basketball State Championship and followed that up with State finshes of 3rd and 2nd in her final two years.

    In addition to her basketball success at Blanchet, Bailey also was a three-time participant in the State track meet, earning All-State honors each of those years, as well as leading the school to its first ever Track & Field championship in 2018.
